Roofing putty for repairing and sealing

SCALAFIX Water Stop

Roofing putty for water insulation, intended for use in any weather, both on dry and wet substrate.
Displaces water. Can be used during rainfall. Sticks to the substrate even under water! Can be used in contact with Styrophoam, Styrodur, and other thermal insulation materials. Remains plastic during application even in freezing temperatures. Intended to be used outdoor only.

SCALAFIX Water Stop is a thixotropic, ready to use, plastic bituminous putty in the form of a paste, and is highly modified with SBS synthetic rubber. It contains highest quality reinforcing fibers and chemical additives that enable using it on wet substrates. The coat formed with SCALAFIX Water Stop is water proof, highly elastoplastic, and able to compensate even quite significant movements of the substrate. It is resistant to weather conditions, weak acids and bases, and aggressive substances in rainwater and in the ground.
SCALAFIX Water Stop is particularly suitable for repairs of defects and for filling discontinuities in roof cover materials (cracks, fissures, gaps, blisters, leaks, etc.), as well as for local sealing of water insulation, making elastoplastic seamless water insulation underground coats, basin type of seals, etc. Sealing of any penetrations through building structures.

SCALAFIX Water Stop should be applied using a spatula to fill the damaged or leaking areas with a 2 mm to 5 mm thick coat. If the substrate is damp or wet, the putty must be rubbed in so as to activate the chemical compounds that improve adhesion. SCALAFIX Water Stop can be used on all kinds of substrates, such as: bituminous, felt paper, cement, ceramic, Eternit, Onduline, sheet metal substrates, etc.

SCALAFIX

Putty for water insulation and sealing in the construction sector
PROPERTIES
Plastic bituminous putty in the form of a paste, highly modified with synthetic rubber, containing reinforcing fibers and chemical additives that enable its use on slightly damp substrates. The coat formed with the Scalafix putty is highly elastoplastic, waterproof, and able to compensate even quite significant movements of the substrate. It is resistant to weather conditions, weak acids and bases, and aggressive substances in the ground.
INTENDED USE
Repairs of defects and for filling discontinuities in roof cover materials (cracks, fissures, gaps, blisters, leaks on wet and dry surfaces, etc.), as well as for local sealing of water insulation, making elastoplastic seamless water insulation underground coats, basin type of seals, etc.
PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Repair works
Clean the place where the repair is to be performed and its vicinity by removing any sand, leaves, and loose parts of the substrate. In order to increase the adhesion, a primer must be used on porous and absorbing substrates.

Performance of seamless seals
All corners and angles must be rounded using Scalafix putty. A primer must be applied on dust-producing substrates. One must keep in mind that in any case the substrate must not be frozen, covered with frost and that there can be no water pools on the substrate.
USAGE METHOD
Repair works
After the priming solution has dried up, apply the Scalafix putty using a spatula to cover the defective spots with a 2-5 mm thick coat. If the substrate is wet, the putty must be rubbed in with rapid movements so as to activate the chemical compounds that increase the putty's adhesion to the wet substrate.
Performance of seamless seals
After the priming solution has dried up, apply the putty, preferably with a metal float, trying to ensure even thickness of the putty. The coat applied at one time should be 2-3 mm thick. It is more advantageous to apply two thinner layers than one thicker one. This eliminates accidental defects and shortcomings in the application of a single layer.
When using the putty in high temperatures, apply thinner layers. This enables more uniform evaporation of the diluent from the entire thickness of the layer.
TOOLS
A metal float, a spatula
STORAGE
Store the putty in tightly closed, not damaged packaging, in cool and dry premises. The product is not sensitive to freezing temperatures.
Expiration date: 12 months from the date of production.
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Works must be performed at substrate and air temperature between +5oC and +35oC.
